If you are a surf lover, then Tasmania is your holiday spot. Howrah is a beach-side suburb, that lies opposite to Hobart. Howrah Beach is a sandbar break that is sheltered by Howrah Point. To reach the spot, park at Wentworth park and follow the path down to the beach. Here you can explore the waves with swell sizes from 1 m/3 ft and holding up to 2 m/6 ft. The best tide movement is rising tide and the ideal tide position is low tide only.

Offshore winds blow from the north and the ideal swell direction is from the south. In summer, the wind blows offshore at 33%, in autumn the wind blows at 35%, in winter at 33% and in spring at 34%. The site is suitable for beginners due to the short wavelength. Keep in mind that, the best period for waves is winter. Last but not least, Howrah beach is an uncrowded surf break, even when it works. Note: watch out for pollution.
