Rising from the Eastern Cape and running along the Kwazulu-Natal's western border, the Drakensberg mountain range is the highest in South Africa, standing at 3482 m/11424 ft in height. The mountains are capped by a layer of basalt at 1400 m/4593 ft thick and offers amazing flora and fauna.

Bulwer is a rural village at the foot of the Drakensberg mountain range and home to the Bulwer Mountain, also known as Amahaqwa. It is one of South Africa’s hang gliding sites, attracting both local and international pilots around the world. The flying conditions are perfect all year round offering multi-level flying possibilities.

The spot offers very consistent easterly winds and spacious take off and landing sites. Enjoy the breathtaking views while soaring the skies above indigenous forests and fly along with cape vultures and eagles at your wing tips. Take off is at the majestic Bulwer (Amahaqwa) Mountain with an altitude of 1840 m/6036 ft above sea level.
