Amathole is an area with stunning scenic beauty and rich in history. Located in the Eastern Cape, it has diverse landscapes ranging from mountains and rivers to beaches, forests and estuaries. Hidden gems include the majestic rainforest, which is protected to date. Indigenous forest and breathtaking waterfalls are a must see in this region.

Henderson Valley boasts a perfect terrain for the adventurous 4×4 driver. 4×4 driving at this area is spectacular and offers an amazing adventure for all levels. The route is a circular one with connecting trails to juggle. Graded between 3-5, it is a self-drive of 60 km/37 mi route ranging between 24-48 hours.

The terrain is rocky, with loose stones, gravel, boulders, river and stream crossings and one can also afford some strenuous detours as well. Although it is an all year round activity, during the winter months of July-August, it can get very cold.  Maps and GPS are provided. before embarking on this adrenaline adventure.
