Beginners and advanced
Kailua Kona is located in the North Kona District, Hawaii. It is a lively seaside town with sunny tropical weather all year long and lies at the bottom of the Hualalai Volcano.

The town hosts many interesting historical sites and is famous for its Kona Coffee cultivations and the crystal clear sea. Kona International Airport is located at fifteen minutes away in the south of the main town. Along the sea side, there are shops to buy, rent or repair snorkeling gear.

Honaunau Bay, or else the City Of Refuge, as locals call it, is an amazing cove surrounded by flat volcanic rocks and palm trees. The sea is sallow and calm and has excellent visibility for snorkeling. It is ideal for beginners and children. Snorkelers will have the opportunity to admire large numbers of tropical fish, sea turtles and beautiful corals.

If you dive from the right side of the beach, just outside the cove, there is a big chance to meet with playful spinner dolphins. Take water and food with you and try to be at the beach early in the morning because during weekends is ultra crowded.
