Durban is a beautiful city and the biggest one in the KwaZulu - Natal. lt has an amazing coastline, diverse landscape with the most spectacular mountain range in South Africa. Climate is sub-tropical with warm wet summers, mild frost-free winters and all year round sunshine. Its amazing sandy beaches stretch into the Indian Ocean with water temperatures at 19°C/66.2°F even during winter.

Just at 15 km/9.3 mi from Durban, there is the Kenneth Stainbank nature reserve, which is characterized by a mixture of grassland indigenous coastal forest and riverine bush, hosting an amazing hiking trail.

The trail is within moderate difficulty and suitable for children as well. The Mkumbi trail, known as the “Red trail” as well, is a 6 km/3.7 mi circular route which takes between 1-2 hours to complete. Maps are available to assist you in navigating the route. Sightings of zebras, impalas, bush-bucks are not uncommon in this wetland and grassland terrain.
