Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, after Lisbon and it is located along the Douro river estuary in northern Portugal. Porto is one of the oldest European centers and registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. Porto has a semi- Mediterranean climate, although it's affected by the Atlantic ocean.

If you are an adorer of good wine, then port wine is a good choice. Port wine is named after Porto and it’s one of the most famous international exports of Portugal.

But if  you are looking for adventure, then you can visit the beautiful area of  Torreira, in north Porto, where body-boarders can feel the adrenaline all year round. From September to April you can explore the big waves with swell sizes often around 6 ft (1.80 m) but it can reach from 9 ft (2.75 m) to 15 ft (4.55 m).  So if you really want to challenge your adrenaline limits and you want to avoid the tourist season, it’s the right period to visit Torreira’s  beach. During summer, the waves are more friendly to you with swell size around 4 ft (1.20 m).

The wind is light enough for the sea to be glassy about 15% of the time and blows offshore 17%.  During autumn, the wind blows offshore 41% of the time while during winter blows offshore 48% and in spring 35%.
