Organized for the 4th time in a row, King of the Alps event, gathers some of the best paddlers in the world for the European Championship in extreme Kayaking that takes place in the amazing Passer River in South Tyrol, Italy.

Get ready to paddle fast and give your 100% of energy for the King of the Alps downriver race from June 12 to 14, if you want to become the next “King and Queen of the Alps”. The event is taking place in the white waters of Passer River that flows down the Passeier valley and through the town of Merano.

The race begins with the marathon and qualification (Mass start for 6.5 km/4 mi WW class III-IV) where women start first and 2 mins later men and juniors follow. Quarterfinals include the best 20 of the marathon who are carried out in a “head-to-head-format“ by a pair of kayakers. Each kayaker will run the final section alone and timed.

"King of the Alps"

The fastest kayaker of each pair goes to next round (semifinals). 10 kayakers advance to the semifinals (2nd round double fun) and in the finals, the top 5 kayakers compete in a timed sprint race only once. There is also going to be a surprise open race for all those excluded from the final race so stay tuned with King of the Alps news updates!

Besides the competitive part of the event, there will also be many side events for paddlers to enjoy such a participation in kayak courses so as to improve your techniques,  guided tours and rafting tours. And don’t forget the wild party after the crowning ceremony of the King and Queen of the Alps.
