Lagos is a municipality in the Barlavento region of the Algarve, in Portugal. It's at the mouth of Bensafrim River and along the Atlantic ocean. Lagos is a place for all ages. You can find historical treasures and let your imagination travel back to the old times.

The city walls, that were constructed during the 16th century, circle the old part of Lagos. You can admire the status of prince Henry in the Praça Infante Dom Henrique.

At the back of the square, follow the paved street and you’ll find Lagos ‘golden church’ of St. Anthony. The golden sand beaches are waiting for you. But, if you are looking for an adventure and an extreme fight with the waves, take your board, because it’s time for surf.

The sloppy, beach-break waves are fun and they are moving right and left. The south and southeast swell direction is the best and for the wind, the north, northwest and northeast. The swell size, starts working at 1.0-1.5 m / 3-5 ft and holds up to 2 m+ / 6 ft+.

In summer, the wave swell size is >1.5 ft (>0.5 m) but in good days, the swell size is from 0.5 to 1.3 m (1.5-4 ft) and the wind blows onshore 2%. In autumn, we have the same waves swell size and the wind blows onshore 4%. In winter, the wind blows onshore 6% and the waves swell size is 2-3 m (6.5-10 ft). In spring, the waves swell size is from 0.5-2 m (1.5-6.5 ft) and the wind blows onshore 7%.

The beach is appropriate for beginners. There are surf school in the area, with experts at your disposal, in case you need. In Lagos, there are lots of bars and restaurants and of course comfortable accommodations for your relaxing hours.
