Biloxi is nowadays the fifth largest city in Mississippi. Although it has suffered severe damages by the hurricane Katrina, most of which are restored and it can now provide many recreational activities in parks, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts.

The big, white sand beach and the small wave ocean waters of the Gulf make Biloxi one of the top kiteboarding destinations. The winds are usually frontal, so it’s best to have a small kite of 12 m/40 ft, although during spring, when the winds turn southeast and especially summer, when the winds decent, large kites (16-20 m/53-66 ft) will enhance the excitement.

Biloxi has a subtropical climate, heavily influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. Winter days are wet and mild and summer days are humid and hot, bearing the brunt of tropical storms during late summer to fall. The average temperature varies between 43-63°F (6-17 °C) in winter and 74-90°F (23-32 °C) in summer.

One of the cool places to practice your kiteboarding skills is the beach in front of the Edgewater Mall. There are lots of parking spaces, the beach is long and the water ideal, clean and shallow. If you want to experience the best kiteboarding no matter how the winds blow, then this spot is exactly what you are looking for. Well except north, northeast and northwest, as these are offshore winds.

Just be wary of the beach vendors, as they can cause an issue with the accessibility. Biloxi is ideal for all year round water sports due to its climate, but during the fall and winter, you will enjoy hours of kiteboarding, as the winds blow your kite way up!
