Peniche is a municipality and a seaside city, situated in formerly Estremadura Province, in Oeste Subregion. The municipality consists of 6 parishes and it is a popular surfing destination.

If you are into day trips, you will love this amazing surfing destination. Praia da Foz do Arelho is a public beach that can also be accessed by a 4×4 vehicle, on your way to Caldas da Rainha.

The surf break is not so often, but when it is, it gives very good waves appropriate for all levels of surfers. The wave type is beach-break and waves have very good right and left direction. The quality is normal and waves can be fast and powerful.

When the conditions are right, the wind blows from its optimum east direction and the swell comes from the west, making the place really great. The swell usually starts working at 1 – 1.5 m/3 – 5 ft and holds up to 5 m/16 ft and over!

The atmosphere there is very good and the locals are very friendly. Weekly, you find only a few surfers, so you have the beach almost entirely for you, but at weekends it gets crowded. Generally, it is a very good spot that is worth a visit!!!
