Trinidad has numerous beautiful sandy beaches, where you can relax and enjoy the sun and the crystal clear waters. But, if you are looking for great surf sites, then you should visit the beaches that lie on the northeast coast of the island. Toco is definitely one of them. The spot is situated on the western side of the Toco village, close to Sans Souci.
The beach is sandy with pebbles, as well as many fruit trees along the hillside. The swell size starts working at 1-1.5 m/3-5 ft and holds up to 3 m/10 ft. The reef-break offers very consistent surf and provides both left and right hand waves. In addition, the best tide position is all tides and the ideal tide movement is rising and falling tides. Toco is suitable for both the beginner and more experienced surfer.
Furthermore, the best wind direction is from the south and southeast and the ideal swell direction is from the north and northeast. At summer the wind blows onshore 72%, at autumn it blows 67%, at winter 83% and at spring 62%. Last but not least, the ideal period to visit the spot is from March till November. Note: be careful of rocks and rips.
