Liverpool is situated along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. The climate here is classified as a temperate maritime climate, like much of the British Isles, with mild winters and cool summers. Furthermore, Liverpool is noted for its music, as it is the birthplace of The Beatles. It is also well known for its rich architectural heritage. In addition to that, the city won the World Heritage Site status by UNESCO in 2004.

Wirral Peninsula is located between the River Dee and the River Mersey. It is a popular holiday destination, as it has beautiful sandy beaches and many picturesque villages, most of which preserve their characteristic red sandstone buildings. West Kirby is a sandy beach, which offers stunning views of part of the North Wales coastline and also of the Hilbre Island, that are accessible by foot from the beach, at low tide.

It is a great windsurfing location that accommodates any wind direction, from the northwest to the southwest. The beach offers good wind conditions and it is appropriate for windsurfers of all levels, especially for the beginners, as it is sheltered by the Hilbre Island. The ideal time to visit the spot is from April to October. It is advisable to keep a distance of 100 m/328 ft from the tide line, in order to allow swimmers to safely enjoy the waters. Finally, the location caters good facilities, including toilets and car parking.
