Dominican Republic is standing on the eastern side of Hispaniola Island. This Caribbean island is divided into two nations, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The country of Haiti is standing on the western side of Hispaniola. Dominican Republic is also west of Puerto Rico and south-east of Cuba. Its capital is Santo Domingo.

If you are looking for a Caribbean island with many dive sites, you should visit Hispaniola Island and more specifically the country of Dominican Republic. Around the country, there are about 5 zones and more than 50 dive spots. Ray Point is lying in Puerto Plata’s zone, on the north coast of the island. At this spot, divers will meet many kinds of fish and especially different kind of stingrays. Just to mention some of them, spider crabs, lobsters and some blue fluorescent trigger fish are usually found in the deep waters. Divers will also have the chance to admire the wonderful black corals.

As for the more technical features of this dive spot, its maximum depth is about 50 m/164 ft and the water’s temperature averages 28°C/82.4°F during all year. The underwater visibility is usually good, even if the spot’s location is not privileged, as it is standing in the open ocean.

Ray Point is a short, but also interesting dive spot. Finally, because of the small distances between dive spots, you should contact your diving school in order to advise you of how to combine more than one dive sites. It will be an absolutely amazing experience!!!
