The Bahamas is a country in the western Atlantic Ocean consisting of more than 700 island, cays and islets. More than 360 islands and cays belong to Exuma, a region in the Bahamas. Great Exuma is the largest Cay with a length of about 37.3 km/60 mi. George Town is the capital city of Exuma.

Runaway Beach is a gorgeous place, that everyone wishes to visit. The white, sandy beach and the turquoise waters make you wanna spend all your day on the beach. What’s better than having fun by exercising a water sport, like SUP. SUP is feasible to the most of people, as no special training and equipment are needed. The difficulty of SUP varies, as you can try SUP on wavy or on flat waters too.

As you have already guessed, there is no high season for this sport. However, for wave enthusiasts, Exuma is a perfect place to visit during the period lasting from December to April. During that period, the winds are pretty stronger and their intention ranges from 10 knots/18.5 kph to 20 knots/37 kph. The best wind direction is coming from the Northeast and East. Also swell starts working at 1 m/3.3 ft.

As the Bahamas has a subtropical to tropical climate, the hurricane period influences the weather conditions. That happens during the period lasting from July to November. Fortunately, rainfall is a temporary phenomenon. Generally, the temperature fluctuates from 16.7°C/62°F to 31.7°C/89°F, since water’s temperature averages to 28°C/82.4°F.
