Exuma is a region in the Bahamas consisting of more than 360 islands and cays. The Bahamas is a country located in the western Atlantic Ocean, on the north side of Cuba and in the eastern state of Florida. Great Exuma is the largest cay in Exuma region. Its length is about 37.3 km/60 mi. The capital city of this region is George Town.

Runaway Beach is situated on the northeastern side of Great Exuma. It is an interesting kiteboarding spot, since the conditions are ideal for beginners and experts boarders too. Beginners can choose the package of lessons they need, in order to become independent boarders. Also experts can take some lessons to improve their movements or learn new tricks.

The winds at this spot are pretty reliable all year round. The dominant winds come from the Northeast and East and their strength fluctuates from 10 knots/18.5 kph to 20 knots/37 kph. The winds are quite stronger during the period lasting from December to April. The bottom of this beautiful beach is sandy. Also swell starts working at 1 m/3.3 ft. The main styles you may try are long distance and bump and jump.

The Bahamas has a subtropical to tropical climate. Unfortunately, rainfall is a pretty usual phenomenon, but also a temporary one during hurricane period. The hurricane period lasts from July to November. The temperature ranges from 16.7°C/62°F to 31.7°C/89°F, while water’s temperature averages to 28°C/82.4°F.
