Joss Bay is a sandy beach, situated just outside Broadstairs. The beach is sheltered by large white chalk cliffs and it is one of the most popular surf sites in Southeast England. It is an exposed beach break that is great around mid tide. Offshore winds blow from the west, southwest and the best swell direction is from the north. The spot offers both left and right hand waves. Here you are able to explore the waves with swell sizes that can start from less than 1 m/3 ft and hold up to 2 m/6 ft.

In summer, the wind blows offshore at 14%, in autumn the wind blows at 10%, in winter at 10% and in spring at 13%. Note that, the best time for waves is winter. Joss Bay provides with a plethora of facilities, including toilets, cafe-restaurant and lifeguard in summer months. It should be mentioned that, the location is suitable for novice and advanced surfers alike. Also, the best tide movement is rising and falling tides and the ideal tide position is all tides. Last but not least, be careful of rocks, rips and pollution.
